30 Jan 2016

Join us at the Digital Catapult Centre for the 1st Smart Cities Forum (#SCF) organised by the University of Warwick in conjunction with the Digital Catapult.

Date: February, 16, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Digital Catapult (near Euston Station)

Background:  Over the past 50 years, the urban population has grown by more than 4-fold.  Developing, as well as developed cities face legacy and emerging urban challenges related to congestion, public order, cost efficient governance, pollution, and being competitive at the global stage.  Integrating current and emerging technologies can provide solutions to some of these challenges by exploiting synergies between city agencies and creating information platforms that allow solutions to be shared between cities and citizens.

This workshop aims to bring together academic researchers, industrial-, and city government- experts that work in this broad space.  The workshop will be challenge led, in that a series of challenges will ignite discussion and foster opportunities for further collaboration.

Who Will Attend? We aim to invite 50 guests that is a mixture of researchers (doctoral and post-doctoral level), experts from industry, and government involved in smart city projects. Limited number of student places are available for this event. If you are a student, please, register below clearly indicating that you are a student. If you wish to bring a poster to showcase your work, please let us know in advance, and give us an indication of what your poster will be about (email Dr. Ganna Pogrebna via g.pogrebna[at]warwick.ac.uk).

What can be accomplished?  We aim to structure the workshop to be city challenge driven.  In the context of challenges, we can form groups to propose solutions, as a way to engage with the challenges.
